Collision-induced timing shifts in a wavelength-division multiplexed soliton system are computed when damping, amplification, filtering and positive dispersion management following the loss profile are included. A statistical analysis is presented which takes into account the resulting effect of the large number of collisions occurring in the fiber. Analytic expressions are derived for the root mean square timing jitter and the maximum length of error-free transmission with an arbitrary number of channels. We report on the 320 Gb/s (40 Gb/s × 8 channels) WDM transmission experiment using short-period dispersion-managed fiber. After 320-km transmission, the average Q-factor was measured to be better than 20.4 dB. In addition, we compared the performances of various types of fibers in 40-Gb/s based systems. The results show that the SPDMF was robust to both the intra-channel and inter-channel nonlinearities due to its small average dispersion and large local dispersion. 相似文献

In this paper, a new algorithm for wavelength assignment has been proposed and its performance is evaluated in terms of blocking probability and fairness. It has been shown that the proposed algorithm offers the least blocking probability. The blocking performance of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network has been analyzed for the network having 10 nodes and for varying loads. As the load per link (in Erlangs) increases, the blocking probability increases. The result shows that the performance of first-fit algorithm is better than random algorithm whereas the proposed algorithm offers the least blocking. 相似文献

We present a novel system of a Gaussian soliton generation using a 1.30 μm optical pulse in a nonlinear micro-ring resonator system, which can be used to form the soliton pulse trains within the new wavelength band. By using the suitable parameters, the soliton pulse trains with the center wavelength at 1.30 μm can be generated after the intense Gaussian pulse is input into the nonlinear micro-ring resonator system. The initial pulse bandwidth is enlarged and the signal amplified by the nonlinear Kerr effects type within the ring resonator. The simulation values are used associating with the practical device parameters, whereas the obtained results have shown that the wavelength enhancement of the center wavelength can be achieved. Furthermore, the maximum soliton output power of 12 W is obtained, which is available to perform the long-distance communication link. The common problem of soliton dispersion is minimized by the zero dispersion condition in this case. The major advantage of the proposed system is that the dense wavelength division of the center wavelength with the spectral width of 7.0 pm (10−15 m) and the free spectrum range of 400 pm can be generated and achieved. This is available for the used/installed wavelength enhancement, which can provide more available channel capacity in the existed public optical network. 相似文献

In this paper a 32×32 optical wavelength switching network using the multi-channel and multi-wavelength spectrum-sliced light source is presented where the 2×2 optical-switching elements are utilized in dilated Benes and modified dilated Benes configurations, respectively. The system performances in bit-error rate, especially for the effects of intraband crosstalk, are analyzed in details for the two type networks. A multiwavelength fiber ring laser comprising of a Lyot filter and hybrid gain medium is presented. A wavelength channel spacing of 100 GHz is achieved by appropriate tuning of the Lyot filter length. Four wavelength channels are simultaneously mode-locked at 10 GHz using an electroabsorption modulator. We highlight how the intra-cavity modulator can affect the stability of the mode-locked laser spectrum when used in conjunction with a Lyot filter. We show that, due its reduced polarization sensitivity, an electroabsorption modulator significantly improves the stability of the mode-locked laser spectrum when compared to using a Mach-Zehnder modulator. 相似文献

We demonstrate a fiber ring laser with a dispersion compensation fiber (DCF) and a delayed interferometer (DI) with temperature control, which is able to switch eleven wavelengths one by one. In ring cavity, DCF supplies different effective cavity lengths for different wavelengths, DI generates a wavelength comb corresponding to the ITU grid, a flat-gain erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) provides uniform gain for each lasting wavelength, and a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) not only acts as active modulator, but also alleviates homogeneous broadening effect of EDFA. Stable pulse trains with a pulsewidth about 40 ps at 10 GHz have been obtained by injecting external optical control signals into the laser. In this paper we report on an efficient approximation for the reconstruction and fitting of 2nd harmonic, wavelength-modulated, absorption spectra from Voigt profiles. The model consists in a proper combination of results recently obtained by other authors, concerning on one hand, Fourier analysis of signals resulting from wavelength modulation spectroscopy and, on the other hand, an empirical analytical approximation to the Voigt lineshape. The fitting algorithm was tested both on simulated and real spectra, corresponding to ammonia rovibrational transitions around 2-μm wavelength. In the case of real spectra, a standard deviation for the normalized residuals at a level of ∼0.2% was found. The accuracy in the reproduction of peak intensities was comparable with that provided by a more complex model, previously developed by other authors. 相似文献
